Dr. Christa S. Martin

Dr. Christa S. Martin, a native of Columbia, has dedicated her life to enriching her community and improving the lives of its residents. Her impressive journey in public service and higher education demonstrates her unwavering commitment to positive change.

Dr. Martin's governmental leadership began in 1992 when she was appointed by former Columbia Mayor Barbara McIntyre to serve as Ward 3 Councilman. In 2014, she was elected Vice Mayor, a historic achievement as she became the first African American female to hold this prestigious position.

Beyond her governmental roles, Dr. Martin has been involved in various nonprofit organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of South-Central Tennessee, African American Heritage Society of Maury County, Columbia Miracle League, MRH Foundation, Maury County NAACP, Stand Together Fellowship, and numerous others.

God deposited Dr. Martin in our community, and she turned around and invested her life to dedicated service to her family, Columbia State Community College, hundreds of organizations and thousands of lives. Where would we be without her investment?

With more than 40 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Martin is a seasoned professional in the field. She holds a Doctorate in Higher Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University and currently serves as the Assistant to the President for Access & Diversity at Columbia State Community College.

In addition to her educational and community commitments, Dr. Martin is an active board member, contributing her expertise to organizations such as Columbia Power & Water, Tennessee Municipal League (TML), Public Entity Partners Reinsurance Board, and the Retirement Board for Employees of the City of Columbia.

Dr. Christa Martin's lifelong dedication to her community, groundbreaking leadership, and extensive experience in higher education make her a beacon of inspiration and progress in Columbia and beyond.
